The post-doctoral scholar will work at the Institut Jean Le Rond d’Alembert
(Université Pierre et Marie Curie – Paris, UMR CNRS 7190) on a research project
aimed at developing a multidisciplinary approach and new interpretative models of
the complex phenomena underlying skin cancer evolution with a particular focus on
cutaneous melanoma. Specifically, the scientific objectives are
to establish numerical methods that solve three-dimensional nonlinear full-wave propagation and three-dimensional elastic wave propagation in skin tissue,
to describe the mechanical characteristics of benign and malignant skin tumors combining the theoretical prediction of the mathematical models with the structural information acquired from ultrasonic techniques.
Duration : 18 months, with a negotiable start date in March or April 2013.
Funding : project “DERMA”, PLAN CANCER, French National Institute of
Health and Medicine (INSERM), awarded June 2012, starting date : Dec 1, 2012.
