Postdoctoral opening at the University of Toronto

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the Physics Department at the University of Toronto for Theoretical Research in the Science and Applications of Photonic Crystals. Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. with background in condensed matter physics, quantum optics, computational electrodynamics, and/or photonics. Successful candidates will engage in full time research with Prof. Sajeev John in strong light-matter interactions in photonic crystals and light trapping effects. Applications include solar energy harvesting, lab-on-a-chip optical bio-sensing and room temperature Bose-Einstein condensation. Familiarity with numerical and computational methods is required. The normal duration of these appointments is 2-3 years, renewable on a yearly basis.
