Ecole des Houches à Singapour

The Summer School of Theoretical Physics at Les Houches was originally started in 1951 by Cécile DeWitt to encourage young researchers to foray into modern physics and frontier research areas. It has since evolved into an advanced school for young researchers and graduate students, equipping them with the necessary tools needed to understand new research areas. In a traditional Les Houches session, each lecturer is expected to provide between ten to fifteen hours of lectures (six to ten courses of 90mn). Selected students from many countries attended the sessions, partly or fully sponsored by the host country.

Motivated by the original purpose of the Les Houches establishment, which is to provide high level scientific training for those who lack the opportunity in their own institutions, a Les Houches School of Physics summer session will be organized and hosted at the Institute of Advanced Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, June 29 - July 4, 2009. The School session is co-organized with the Centre for Quantum Technologies at the National University of Singapore.
