Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in the Physics Department at the University of Toronto for Theoretical Research in the Science and Applications of Photonic Crystals. Qualified candidates must have a Ph.D. with background in condensed matter physics, quantum optics, computational electrodynamics, and/or photonics. Successful candidates will engage in full time research with Prof. Sajeev John in strong light-matter interactions in photonic crystals and light trapping (...)
This issue of EPJ Special Topics will honor the scientific legacy of Roger Maynard. Submissions are open for manuscripts with subjects in the categories below :
Waves in complex media (liquid crystals, magneto-optics, nonlinear media, chaotic media, optics with cold atoms…)
Mesoscopic physics with classical waves (correlations, coherent backscattering, speckles, full statistics, analogies with mesoscopic electon transport….)
Ill condensed matter (superfluidity, spin glasses, (...)
A postdoctoral position opens at the Fresnel Institute in Marseille. Please see the announcement for more information.
Two postdoctoral position are available at the Laboratoire Charles Coulomb in Montpellier. Please consult the announcements 1 and 2 for more details.
The XII Brunel-Bielefeld Workshop on Random Matrix Theory will be held on 9-10 December 2016 at Brunel University London, UK.
To register, please send an email to the Conference Office or to any of the organizers (Gernot Akemann, Igor Krasovsky, Dmitry Savin, and Igor Smolyarenko). Further details and updates about the workshop can be found at the workshop website at

The "Light in Complex Nanostructures" group at LP2N (Bordeaux area, France) is interested in the theoretical and numerical study of coherent phenomena in systems composed of classical and/or quantum nano-objects (e.g. plasmonic nanoparticles, atoms, molecules, ...).
We are now offering a PhD position to work on the "Exotic optical properties of complex plasmonic nanostructures". The PhD student will tackle advanced concepts in electromagnetic modeling and participate to the development of (...)
The "Mesoscopic and Theoretical Optics" (METHEO) group at the Langevin Institute is interested in the theory and numerical modeling of wave scattering in disordered materials and nanophotonics.
We are now looking for a post-doctoral fellow with advanced skills in waves propagation in complex media to investigate the possibility to control the structural correlations of the system to optimize the optical properties. The work will be supervised by Romain Pierrat and Rémi Carminati (group (...)
The Complex Nanophotonics Science Camp will take place near London (UK) from 25th to 28th of July 2017. It is an unconventional gathering (there’s a reason it is called a ’camp’ and not a conference) in an exceptional setting : the Cumberland Lodge (a royal mansion built in 1647, in the middle of Windsor Park).
The aim of the ’camp’ is to bring together 60 early-career scientists in the field of photonics, but also science writers and editors, in an unconventional format, mixing contributed (...)
